Three Reasons to Buy from a Local Coffee Roaster
Toxins impact our health in a way that most of us don’t even think about. We typically only think about the food we ingest but toxins are also in our beauty products, our furniture, and let’s not ignore the toxins that fill our mind. If you make what I call “simple swaps”, you can begin to chip away at removing those harmful toxins. I work closely with other local experts to help my clients detox their lives. Dawnn Short, from ShortD’s, will share with us three reasons to buy your coffee from a local roaster and not off the grocery shelf or from drive-through coffee locations. Here are three reasons.
FRESH COFFEE IS BETTER: According to the National Coffee Association, ‘fresh-roasted coffee is essential to a quality cup’. Drinking pre-packaged/ground coffee contains more free radicals, which can contribute to oxidative stress and inflammation in the body. Better yet, fresh coffee has a stronger aroma and tastes better.
FRESH COFFEE IS PACKED WITH ANTIOXIDANTS: Coffee is high in antioxidants which are important for optimal health as they prevent cells from being oxidized by toxins, chemicals, and inflammation. One antioxidant, chlorogenic acid, which is found almost exclusively in coffee, is also thought to help prevent cardiovascular disease. Did you know that coffee contains small quantities of B vitamins, magnesium, and potassium? Drink up.
COFFEE IS GOOD FOR MENTAL HEALTH: Yeah! This is a good one. Coffee not only tastes delicious, but it also enhances your brain’s ability to deal with neurodegenerative diseases. Several studies show that people who consume coffee routinely are less likely to suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. It can also reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease by a whopping 32 - 80%. Part of the effect of coffee can be explained by an increase in metabolic functions which gives a major boost to brain performance. Coffee also contains caffeine, which can lead to improved memory, alertness, energy, and vigilance. All of these benefits make the convenience of ShortD’s coffee a no brainer for that next daily dose of brain-empowering goodness.
One small step at a time or progress over perfection is how I work with my clients. Changing your coffee is one small step. When you compare the store-bought coffee that has had a long shelf life to ShortD’s freshly roasted coffee which can be delivered directly to your door; not only will the coffee taste better but it’s better for you – more antioxidants and better mental health. Swapping ShortD’s fresh, roasted beans for coffee that has taken months to years to find you, is the way to go.
